End of Year Reflection
I can’t believe this year is coming to a close!
For me, 2024 was a year of challenges and growth. It pushed me to face some of my biggest insecurities and work through recurring difficulties in my romantic relationship. But alongside those challenges, it was also filled with beautiful memories shared with family, friends, and travel.
I’ve always loved taking time at the end of the year to reflect—to look back at what I’ve done, experienced, and accomplished. It’s such a grounding practice, and yet, I’ve noticed that many of my clients struggle with this.
When I ask them how they view their year, the responses are often, “I haven’t done anything,” or “I could’ve done more.” They dismiss or even forget the efforts they’ve put into their personal, professional, and emotional growth.
To help, I encourage them to go month by month, from January to December, and note their highs, lows, and achievements. It’s amazing how quickly forgotten moments come back to light. One client recently realized how busy his January had been and remembered completing a big project he’d barely thought about since. When I asked how he felt recalling it, he paused and said, “I actually did a lot—I’m proud of myself.”
That’s the power of reflection. It allows us to see ourselves more clearly and appreciate what we’ve endured and achieved. It reminds us that we’re capable, resilient, and often doing better than we give ourselves credit for.
As we wrap up 2024, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your own journey.
Go month by month and honor the highs, the lows, and everything in between. You might find yourself surprised by how much you’ve navigated and grown, even if it didn’t feel monumental at the moment.
Write them down somewhere.
Read the list whenever you’re feeling down, dejected, or unaccomplished. You will be reminded that you’re capable!
Conclusion
Reflection is about honoring your story. Whether you faced challenges, celebrated wins, or simply made it through tough days, it all deserves recognition.
So, as we step into 2025, carry forward the lessons, growth, and most importantly, the hope. You’ve made it through another year, and that is something to be proud of. Here’s to continuing the journey, one step at a time.
